THE ALLIANZ TROPHY is awarded to the winner of the Arlington State - Alabama winner. This rivalry started shortly after ASU claimed the 2005 National Championship.
Alabama had a "hostile" takeover of the Minnesota franchise. Arlington State coach, Wayne Kube, was crucial in the recruiting of Amir Pinnix, Logan Payne and Matt Spaeth to Minnesota, when Neil Thompson made his move and packed the trucks and showed up in Tuscaloosa the next morning.

 In the process they stole the Allianz Trophy which was a gift from brother to brother. Now Arlington State is out to regain the trophy and has reached an agreement with Coach Thompson to award the trophy to the winner of the game.
