Primary trading interest is pre-2000 for football, baseball, hockey, Formula 1 and Indy Car, and pre-1990 for basketball as I pretty much have all I would want after those dates, save for the occasional game here or there. Grading guidelines... Recorded direct from SD Digital source, 9.5.... Conversions from VHS Master from Digital source: SP generally grades 9.0, LP 8.75-9.0, SLP 8.5-8.75... from VHS Master from good cable, usually about 0.25 lower than those grades with exceptions... This hopefully provides a reference point for how far from those quality degrees other games are based on grade they have. ...Significant grade reductions are taken for tracking, video vibration/shake, ghosting, audio issues like extremely low sound and buzz. Those issues can result on anywhere between a 0.25-0.5 in most cases to 1.0 or 2.0 reduction in grade based on how annoying they are and how difficult it is to watch the game because of it. I have Panasonic DVD recorders so generally I convert most everything in XP mode, with some exceptions. Disk counts aren`t as important to me as content quality. Some equipment is able to handle busy video motion in SP mode and SP mode is fine when that equipment is used for conversion. Unfortunately, Panasonic units aren`t one of those and I`m unwilling to go with less than the best that my equipment can provide which means XP mode. And as long as the video picture looks good, doesn`t have lots of compression artifacts (it shouldn`t be 3 yards and a cloud of pixels), I don`t care how many disks a game is on, 1 or 5. The issue is solely how the disks play back on my TV. Personal preferences: I hate edited huddles... actually I should say: I HATE EDITED HUDDLES. They are the single quickest way to make a game unwatchable IMO. I also don`t like games with a lot of moronic `over-editing` such as sideline and studio updates, replays, promos, clock stoppages edited out. I watch my games on a standard old-fashion `tube` TV in the broadcasts` original resolution, so I watch on DVDs. As a result, I have zero interest in trading for mp4s. ..
