CAMDAWG [Not Currently Trading][Cannot Dub DVD-RAM Games] Hello guys, I`m Cameron Stevens, and I`m a huge Seattle sports fan. So I collect Seahawks, Mariners, Sonics (hoping somehow for a team to come back), and my alma mater, the University of Washington Huskies. I also really like collecting college football and basketball, classic NBA, and old NTSC video format soccer broadcasts. I had a Tripod site years ago, but as I started to collect DVD`s, it was just so out of date that I felt it was better to start over here.
When I started recording and transferring to DVD, I first had to record to DVD-RAM, as I didn`t have a duplicator yet. So I could only trade by dubbing a recording on RAM back to the hard drive on my Panasonic E80 recorder, and then to DVD-R for a lossless, exact copy. So the games I have listed as being on DVD-RAM format will take a bit longer for me to make a copy of; but they will look exactly the same as what I have (meaning a lossless copy), and I`m happy to do it.
Here is a legend to my letter grading system:
A+: No games are currently graded this high, this grade is saved for any potential true HD games I may acquire or record in the future, onto formats such as recordable Blu-Ray.
A: Standard definition DVD masters (this would include downconverted HD), done in a high quality mode, better than SP. This grade is given to XP mode games, and often to games recorded live to the hard drive of my DVD recorder in Flex Mode for each half at 1 hour, 30 minutes or less.
A-: Only a tiny few tape conversions are given this grade. They would have to be converted VHS SP masters, or Super VHS SP or possibly EP masters in rare cases. Typically, this grade is for DVD masters recorded in SP mode, or maybe slightly better in Flex Mode. Or they could possibly be XP mode or high Flex Mode if the live broadcast wasn`t crystal clear.
B+: This is basically the grade for the best VHS tape conversions to digital. Really nice picture and sound quality, these should make anyone happy. If there are any digital live recordings with this grade, they`ll most likely be one disc games, recorded in worse than SP mode.
B: This grade is used for nice VHS tape conversions, almost always masters. If not converted from a tape master, than a tape that might be one generation away from the master. So, what`s the difference for me between a B+ and a B graded game? Sometimes the differences are very small. But perhaps a game given this grade has a bit of audio hum or noise, even if the video would grade higher. Maybe the picture isn`t absolutely sharp. Maybe there`s just the very slightest amount of pixelation from the conversion, not bothersome. Maybe there`s one or a couple small flaws during a very small portion of the game. Games I give a B grade to should still please basically anyone. There should not be anything with these games that would bother you.
B-: This grade is for VHS tape conversions, still usually masters, that are still decent, but have some minor flaws that might be slightly annoying. Maybe the picture is a bit grainy or out of focus. Maybe there`s some audio noise. Maybe there`s tracking flaws for a couple of minutes. This is the first grade where you might wish the game were in slightly better shape. Yet most games that receive this grade should still make you happy once you get the game. Sometimes the difference between B and B- can be small.
