Juventus defeated Liverpool 1-0 to win the 1985 European Cup, thanks to Michel Platini`s goal in the 58th minute. But that was overshadowed by one of the most notorious tragedies in the history of soccer, as 39 fans lost their lives at Heysel Stadium due to rioting.
This is an NTSC format recording from a Canadian channel. Disc 1 has the pre-match footage, showing pre-recorded footage of the stampede and the aftermath. Disc 2 has the match. As was common back then in North America, the station would sometimes miss a bit of action to show a commercial or two. Halftime was edited out during the original recording, and the first bit of the second half is missing. |
