Washington 40-17. The Redskins broke out of their five-game losing streak in grand style, smashing the playoff-bound Chargers with good performances on both sides of the ball. Joe Lavender set the tone on San Diego’s first possession when he picked off Dan Fouts’ pass and returned it 51 yards for a touchdown. It was the first of three interceptions for Lavender on the day and one of seven takeaways for the Redskins on the day (5 interceptions, two fumble recoveries). The offense took advantage of the opportunities as Joe Theismann threw two touchdown passes and Mark Moseley booted four field goals. |
