This game is not very exciting in the first half, but man what a second half. The sunny conditions turn dark quickly in the 3rd quarter and the bottom falls completely out of the sky. A nasty thunderstorm rages, sending fans out of the stands looking for shelter while the Bucs and Bengals play on helplessly in the ridiculous conditions. Rain comes down so hard that it makes Riverfront Stadium look like a pond in places. Eventually it clears out and the sun comes back, but the home crowd is disappointed as the Bucs pull it out late. Game cuts off with about 20 seconds left. This is a network master where the cameras remain on the stadium during breaks and halftime. Curt Gowdy and Hank Stram have the call. |
