There was an almost 20 minute delay to the start of the game as officials were trying to work out the timing of the game and a planned blackout for New York City scheduled at 9:30pm. Once the game got underway, the American League jumped on the National League with two home runs in the first inning. The first was by Lou Boudreau and the other was down the right field line by Rudy York. Mickey Owen accounted for the only National League run with a home run in the 8th inning. Bob Elson, Mel Allen and Jim Britt have the radio call. |
