Houston 13-10. What seems to be a good break can sometimes come back to bite you, and that’s what happened to the Redskins during the third quarter in Houston. Washington was leading 7-6 and driving for more when Billy Kilmer was hit out of bounds by linebacker Robert Brazile. The officials not only flagged the Oilers for a personal foul, they also tossed Brazile, one of Houston’s best defenders, out of the game for giving Kilmer a forearm to the neck. The Redskins had a first and goal at the Houston eight. Both the Oilers and their fans were angered by the ejection and the Redskins were unable to move the ball in, settling for a 32-yard Mark Moseley field goal and a 10-6 lead. Apparently, the Houston offense also was inspired by the ejection, taking the ensuing kickoff and driving 62 yards to the winning score. Don Hardeman plunged one yard for his second touchdown of the half and Skip Butler’s extra point gave Houston a 13-10 edge and they held on to win. |
