The last ABA game ever played -- and what a way to go! The New York Nets -- led by the inimitable Dr. J`s 31 points -- outscore Denver 34-14 in the fourth quarter to take final ABA Championship 112-106. Rookie David Thompson is tremendous, with 42 points. The Nets had trailed by 22 with five minutes left in the third -- and by 14 at the start of the fourth. But with a huge finish, spearheaded by guard John Williamson`s 24-point second half, they overcame the massive deficit under the roar of a hometown crowd. Dan Issle was also big for Denver, scoring 30. Steve Albert and Mike DiTomasso have the call for HBO. |
