In a hard fought battle, the Lions prevailed over the 49ers. Two guys with similar last names had big days. Hugh McElhenny had 119 yards rushing including a brilliant 61 yard run that would have been a touchdown if he hadn`t stumbled inside the 10 and Don McIlhenny for Detroit who ran for 104 yards and a touchdown. Y.A. Tittle was knocked out late on a pass play and Detroit won on a Bobby Layne field goal in the final minutes. |
