Pirates win 7-0. Steve Trout vs. John Candelaria. The Cubbies fall to 2-8 on the young season and are playing the low quality ball that led to the Lee Elia rant against Cub fans 12 days later. The Cubs manage only two hits off the Candy Man and the only thing that can stop him is the snow that strikes in the bottom of the 6th, leading to two delays. The first delay finds Milo and Steve discussing the 79 World Series and analyzing the Cubs’ problems while the Pittsburgh Parrot throws around a football to some clubhouse guys and the ballgirls. The weather is more appropriate for the Steelers so the football is understandable. Milo and Steve think that getting Paul Moskau in the starting rotation will solve all problems. The Parrot then grabs a security guys’ ass for some reason, which he’d probably blame on the cocaine. Delay two shows a short bit of the 59 World Series Film. Oh, the game features a bunch of Pirates getting a bunch of hits, the Cubs make a bunch of errors, Candy Man leaves after the delay for Rick Rhoden but the Cubs can’t hit him, either. This was supposed to be Game 1 of a DH but, presumably, Game 2 didn’t make it due to the weather. |
