The St. Louis Cardinals came within one play of a shut out, but gave up a touchdown pass instead. They dominated the game despite the poor conditions with the defense recording 11 sacks on Ron Jaworski and intercepting 4 passes. Mike Quick became the Eagles single-season reception leader by breaking Harold Carmichael`s old record. Carmichael played his last game for the Eagles in this one as did Dan Dierdorf for the Cardinals. Jim Hart who had been in the game or on the sidelines for St. Louis since 1966 was there for the last time. He would play out his final year with Washington in 1984. Carmichael would play briefly for Dallas in 1984 and would catch only one more ball. Dick Stockton and Wayne Walker have the call. |
