A retooled Texas team with an outstanding freshman quarterback named Shane Buechele upsets 10th ranked Notre Dame in week 1. This was a wild game that saw Texas take a 31-14 lead in the second half, only to lose it to Notre Dame in the 4th quarter, 35-31. Then, after Texas scored to take the lead, Notre Dame blocked the extra point and ran it back to tie the game at 37! The game would be settled in double overtime when Texas scored a touchdown after a Notre Dame field goal. Joe Tessitore, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe have the call. |
