DOLPHINS 20 RAIDERS 17
Pete Stoyanovich kicked a 29 yard field goal in overtime giving the Miami Dolphins a 20-17 win over the Los Angeles Raiders at Joe Robbie Stadium. The Raiders started out fast. Jeff Jaeger kicked a 19 yard field goal and Anthony Smith returned a fumble 25 yards for a score giving the Raiders an early 10-0 lead. Dan Marino threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to Keith Jackson to bring Miami within three at halftime, 10-7. Stoyanovich kicked a 21 yard field goal to tie the game at ten before Jeff Hostetler hit Tim Brown with a seven yard touchdown pass giving the Raiders a 17-10 lead. Hostetler was benched late in the first half by Art Shell but returned in the third quarter. Marino later threw an 18 yard touchdown pass to Keith Byars to tie the game at seventeen leading to the overtime. In the overtime period the Dolphins won the toss and drove down for the game winning field goal. The Raiders never touched the ball. Marino finished 17 of 37 for 186 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Hostetler was 8 of 23 for 95 yards with the one touchdown. Bernie Parmalee rushed for a game high 150 yards on 30 carries. With the win, Miami improved to 5-2. |
