The Eagles opened the Buddy Ryan era with a victory over the Lions. It wasn`t pretty, but one thing was clear - Eric Hipple and the Detroit starters were no match for the Eagles new defensive look (patterned after the 1985 Bears). Randall Cunningham was the only Eagles quarterback that could effectively move the team and he did it with his legs. Herman Edwards was playing in one of his last few games for the Eagles as he would be waived after the preseason. Tom Brookshier, Dick Vermeil and Lou Tilley have the call. |
