The Philadelphia Flyers defeat the New York Rangers, to make an appearance in their first Stanley Cup Final since 1987 this would be the final Playoff game of Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier`s careers, as they would retire in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Also, this marked the end of Messier`s first stint as a Ranger, before three dreadful seasons with Vancouver.
