The opening preseason game of 1987 for these teams featured big plays. Jay Schroeder and Art Monk connected from 54 yards out only to be trumped by a 76 yard pass play from Bubby Brister to Charles Lockett. That would be the longest catch in Lockett`s brief NFL career. Steve Cox booted a 56 yard field goal and Ricky Sanders (wearing #46) caught a touchdown from Williams. Something happened in the final minute of the game that is interesting. Pittsburgh took their final timeout with 5 seconds left despite the game already being lost and it made for an interesting conversation at midfield between Chuck Noll and Joe Gibbs. I`m not sure if anybody apologized but it looked like Noll was lecturing Gibbs. Weird. Stan Savran and Jack Ham have the call for WTAE 4 TV in Pittsburgh. |
