This would be Pittsburgh`s first game without their patriarch Art Rooney, Sr who passed away on 8/25/88. The team honored him well by coming back from a 21-0 first quarter deficit to win the game by three. Halftime featured a nice piece honoring Rooney and they also had Lynn Swann interviewing Al Davis and Art Modell in Pittsburgh just hours after the funeral to get their thoughts. One humorous moment that the ABC cameras only caught the end of was Chuck Noll apparently tripping on the turf while jogging in to the locker room at the end of the first half and face-planting. All you got to see was him getting up and shaking his head. Al Michaels, Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf had the call. |
