REDSKINS 20 COWBOYS 17
Danny Copeland recovered an Emmitt Smith fumble in the end zone with 3:14 left in the game essentially giving the Redskins a 20-17 victory over the Cowboys. The controversial play was not reviewed however is was unclear if Troy Aikman`s arm was going forward when the ball came loose. Then Emmitt Smith first recovered the ball and it appeared his knee may have been down before he fumbled the ball. No matter as it was ruled a touchdown for the Redskins. Aikman completed 23 of 35 passes for 245 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. Smith rushed 25 times for 99 yards and Michael Irvin caught five passes for 105 yards. Dallas out gained Washington in most all offensive categories. Before the fumble recovery Washington managed two field goals and scored their only touchdown on a halfback pass from Earnest Byner to Terry Orr covering 41 yards. Mark Rypien completed just 12 of 29 passes for 144 yards and one interception. |
