RAMS 27 COWBOYS 23
Jim Everett tossed two touchdown passes, Cleveland Gary ran for another and Tony Zendejas added two field goals as the Los Angeles Rams shocked the Dallas Cowboys 27-23 at Texas Stadium. Gary rushed for a game high 110 yards on 29 carries and his one yard run gave the Rams an early 7-0 lead. Dallas scored the games next 13 points behind an Emmitt Smith three yard run and two Lin Elliott field goals. Everett finished 22 of 37 for 251 yards including two second quarter touchdown passes. He tossed an eight yarder to Jeff Chadwick and a three yarder to Gary. The second gave the Rams a 21-13 lead going into halftime. Dallas, a two touchdown favorite, would finally take the lead after another Elliott field goal and a 74 yard punt return for a score by Kelvin Martin. The Cowboys led 23-21 going into the fourth quarter but it was the Rams who kept the pressure on. Zendejas made both of his attempts, one from 33 and the other from 44, as the Rams took a 27-21 lead. The Cowboys drove to the Rams` fifteen yard line but Troy Aikman`s pass went incomplete in the end zone as time expired. Aikman completed 22 of 37 passes for 272 yards with Michael Irvin catching a game high eight balls for 168 yards. Smith led the Cowboys rushing attack with 80 yards on 19 carries. |
