RAMS 38 49ERS 16
Jim Everett threw four touchdown passes and Greg Bell ran for another as the Los Angeles Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers 38-16 at Candlestick Park and in the process clinched a Wild Card berth. Everett completed 19 of 38 passes for 201 yards and threw touchdown passes of 5, 11 and 16 yards to Damone Johnson and nine yards to Henry Ellard. Bell rushed for a game high 88 yards on 21 carries and scored on a one yard run. The 49ers led 10-7 after a Tom Rathman one yard run and a Mike Cofer 23 yard field goal. Trailing 10-7, the Rams would score 31 of the games next 34 points to take command. For the 49ers the combination of Joe Montana and Steve Young completed 22 of 37 passes for 291 yards but never found the end zone. The Rams sacked the combo nine times, led by four and a half by Kevin Greene. |
