Jim Harbaugh tossed a 50 yard touchdown pass to Neal Anderson in overtime giving the Chicago Bears a 23-17 victory over the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field. The Lions took a 7-0 lead on a Rodney Peete one yard touchdown run. The Bears answered with a six yard Brad Muster touchdown run to tie the game at seven. After a Lion field goal, the Bears took a 14-10 halftime lead on a two yard touchdown run by Harbaugh. After a scoreless third quarter, the Lions took the lead on a 22 yard touchdown pass from Bob Gagliano to Richard Johnson. A Kevin Butler 19 yard field goal would tie the game at seventeen and eventually send the game to overtime. Harbaugh completed 23 of 39 passes for 208 yards with one touchdown. He also rushed five times for 47 yards. Muster led all rushers with 70 yards on 14 carries while Barry Sanders led the Lions with 61 yards on 17 carries. |
