Washington 12-7. It took a bit of good fortune, but Mark Moseley kept his string of consecutive successful field goal attempts alive, and the Redskins needed all four of them to survive this one. Late in the first quarter, Moseley missed a 37-yard field goal and it seemed that his streak of 14 straight field goals had ended. But the Cardinals were flagged for being offside, wiping the attempt off the records. Moseley’s retry from 32 yards was good. Moseley would finish the game with a string of 18 successful field goal attempts, two short of the NFL record. The Redskins defense successfully maintained the win even after nemesis Jim Hart led a late TD drive and John Riggins fumbled. A desperation Hart pass was incomplete in the end zone as time expired. |
