In a battle of 8-4 teams, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-17 at 3Com Park. Adam Walker scored on a one yard run to give the 49ers an early 7-0 lead. The Bills answered with a Steve Christie 23 yard field goal and a Jim Kelly 28 yard touchdown pass to Justin Armour. Jeff Wilkins kicked a 20 yard field goal to tie the game at ten at haftime. In the third quarter with the Bills driving, Lee Woodall returned a fumble 96 yards for a 49ers touchdown swaying the momentum of the game. Jeff Wilkins added another field goal to give the 49ers a 20-10 lead. Kelly responded with a 13 yard touchdown pass to Steve Tasker but when Derrick Loville scored on an 8 yard run, San Francisco had put the game away. Young completed 28 of 44 passes for 243 yards with an interception while Kelly finished 18 of 41 for 214 yards, the two touchdowns and was intercepted three times. Loville rushed for a game high 88 yards on 24 carries while also catching ten passes for 86 yards. |
