U.N.L.V led for most of the game. Foul shooting was the Rebels weakness and it gets them in this game. With 12 seconds left and U.N.L.V leading 87-85 the Rebels Greg Anthony misses the back end of a 1 and 1. Wayne Sims rebounds for the Tigers and nearly throws the ball away.Chris Jackson makes a miraculous save of the ball going out of bounds to Lyle Mouton who finds an open Ricky Blanton in the corner for a game winning 3 pointer with 4 seconds left. What a finish ! The Rebels controlled most of the 2nd half with Stacy Augmon hitting key shots. But, at the charity stripe the Rebels were awful allowing the Tigers to get back in the game. Chris Jackson leads L.S.U with 29 points and Blanton adds 18 including the game winner. For U.N.L.V Augmon has 25 points and 12 rebounds. Greg Anthony who was strong down the stretch adds 15 points. |
