After the close call vs Princeton in the 1st Round. Georgetown finds themselves in another tough battle. Notre Dame gives them all they can handle in the 1st Half. With time running out in the half the Irish lead 36-29. A Charles Smith 3 pointer at the buzzer pulls the Hoyas to within 36-32 at halftime. The game is close for most of the 2nd half . But, The Hoyas depth and defense wears down Notre Dame. Charles Smith has a big 2nd Half scoring 28 of his game high 34 points. Make no mistake Smith was the leader of this team. He also has 6 assists. Alonzo Mourning adds 17. For Notre Dame Freshman La Phonso Ellis has 18 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Fredrick has 16 off of the Irish Bench. The Hoyas shoot a school record 71% from the field in this game. |
