The Motor City Cruise fell short in their final home game of the Winter Showcase to Sioux Falls Skyforce (110-106). For the fourth straight game, two-way player Jared Rhoden was out with his back injury. Nate Roberts (back) and Treveon Graham (shoulder) were also inactive for today’s contest. For Sioux Falls, Jamaree Bouyea (concussion) and Jon Elmore (hand) were both inactive. Sioux Falls came right out of the gate and went on a 15-0 run to open the game. Sioux Falls outshot Motor City 31-22 in the first quarter. Assignment player, Nikola Jovic finished the first quarter with a total of 12 points. Motor City was outscored 33-21 in the second quarter and Sioux Falls led 64-43 to end the half. In the final quarter of today’s game, Motor City trailed by 17 points. They tied the game with 25.0 seconds remaining after David Nwaba finished a driving layup. Justin Champagnie would obtain a put-back layup to respond on the next possession. The Cruise were fouled when David Nwaba strived to nail the tying bucket with 2.4 seconds remaining. After a pair of missed free-throws, the Skyforce were able to secure the win. Buddy Boeheim finished today’s game with 25 points and six rebounds. David Nwaba followed with 24 points (10-15 from the floor). Nwaba also grabbed seven total rebounds. Justin Champagnie finished today’s game with 35 points and Drew Peterson followed with 25. Champagnie secured a double-double after grabbing 16 rebounds with his 35-point performance. Nikola Jovic also secured a double-double after scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. |
