A College basketball record crowd sees LSU upset Georgetown in a classic basketball game 82-80. The ending is the stuff of legend. With the score tied at 80-80 Russell Grant takes a shot and it’s deflected by Alonzo Mourning Wayne Sims tipped the loose ball to Ricky Blanton who shoots it in a hurry and the ball goes in at the buzzer. Freshman Chris Jackson leads LSU with 26 points. Charles Smith leads the Hoyas with 32 points but with the score tied at 80-80 he missed the crucial free throw with 20 seconds left to set up the great ending. Jaren Jackson adds 28 with a big 2nd half. This is a great basketball game. Especially for the regular season. This game is considered the Tigers game of the decade for the 80s.
Brent Musburger and Billy Packer on the call.
