For many years this game held the record for most penalty minutes in a game. The fighting started just seconds after the opening face-off and continued throughout the game. Up until this point, the North Stars had never won a game in the Boston Garden and they wanted to show that they weren`t intimidated. I believe that Minnesota felt that there was a decent chance of facing the Bruins in the playoffs, and wanted to show that they could play with the Bruins in the Garden. Well, Minnesota may have been brave but they were trounced by the Bruins and didn`t stand a chance. Minnesota continued to be winless in Boston but would that change come April of 1981? |
