A bit of history attached to the 59th Cotton Bowl. With the conference dissolving this is the last Cotton Bowl with an SWC team hosting the game. This is Texas Techs 1st Cotton Bowl since 1939 ( St.Marys ). The game is never in doubt as the Trojans race out to a 28-0 First Quarter Lead. Which sets a Cotton Bowl record for most points in a Quarter. The old record was 24 by Penn.State in 1975 ( Baylor ). U.S.C. Sets a 1st Half record with 34 points. The old mark was 31 points by Boston College in 1985 ( Houston ). Keyshawn Johnson has a huge game with 8 receptions for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Trojans also set Cotton Bowl records for points ( 55) and total yards ( 578 ). Trojans Quarterback Rob Johnson finishes with a school record 8,472 career yards passing. |
