The Canadiens raced out to a 4-0 lead, halfway through the game, as they tried to finish off Toronto. The Leafs who were without their starting goalie Mike Palmateer, because he needed surgery. In game 3, Palmateer got hit in the forearm with a skate blade, that became worse overnight and caused his forearm to swell considerably. The Leafs used backup goalie Paul Harrison, who was seeing his first action of the series. Starting at 14:46 of the second period, the Leafs mounted their comeback. Toronto star Darryl Sittler added another goal to make it 4-2 Montreal, as the 2nd period came to an end. Incredible as it seems Toronto was able to score two more times in the third period to tie the game at four. Walt McKechnie, and Dan Maloney got the two goals in the third period to force overtime. Unfortunately for Toronto fans star Montreal defenseman Larry Robinson scored a power play goal at 4:14 of OT to with it for the Canadiens. That was Robinson`s second goal of the game. The Canadiens sweep Toronto for the second time in two years. |
