Washington 13-9. The Redskins made their home debut for the 1982 season three days after Thanksgiving. This was due to having a pair of scheduled road games to start the season and the players’ strike. Playing in the rain the Redskins jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the Eagles made their move in the third quarter. Even though they gambled and failed on a fourth and one at the Washington 18, the Eagles scored on a 41-yard Tony Franklin field goal and a 56-yard strike from Ron Jaworski to Harold Carmichael. The Eagles failed to tie the game, though, when Franklin’s point after attempt hit off the left upright and bounced to the turf. That left Washington with a precarious 10-9 lead. Mark Moseley`s 43 yard FG provided the final margin. |
